Bluesfest 2011 – Root Doctor Featuring Freddie Cunningham

It has been another crazy summer!! There has been some weeks I have photographed everyday. Don’t get me wrong. I love doing Weddings, Portraits, Seniors etc., but one of the things I really enjoy is shooting something just for me! A few weeks ago I got the chance to check out one of Lansing’s premier blues bands, Freddie Cunningham and The Root Doctor Band. I LOVE this band!! As is my custom I never go to a concert with out my camera!! Photographing bands is my way to unwind… I know that sound weird, but I enjoy listing to great music and photographing great artist!! Michigan Mosaic Music Festival || Orrick Ewing

This year has been a very busy one for me as a photographer. With that being said, I don’t get a chance to get out and photograph just for me,  so it was nice to go and check out my man Orrick Ewing and his group at this years Michigan Mosaic Music Festival!! I first met Orrick a couple of years ago when I photographed the group Too Smooth for Notes. Since then we have cross paths several times. Last year he contracted me to do a series of promo shots for him, which he still uses! But in all that time I have never heard him live!! I have his CD’s but never live, so it was a real treat to finally hear him play… and wow, can the man play!! And you know me I can’t go to a concert with out my camera. So check out a few photos I snapped that night!!

Electric Forest Music Festival – Rothbury, Michigan

One of the many things I like to photograph is live music!! That is why it was such a treat to cover this year’s Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, Michigan as part of the docufest photo team covering the event. The Event ran for four days, but do to other commitments I was only able to be there for the last day. Even though I was only there one day I still had the chance to cover six groups.  Of all the groups I covered that day the Brooklyn group Pimps of Joytime was my favorite. Old school funk!! These guys know how the get down!! Anyway…. here are a few photos from the day! Hopefully I will be asked back next year:)
